NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - The Blackstone Valley CROP Hunger Walk is Saturday, Oct. 13. The 3-mile walk will begin at Trinity Episcopal Church next to the Whitinsville Town Common and end at the Community Hall of the First Evangelical Church, next to Uxbridge Town Common.

Walkers should seek sponsors from their churches, neighborhoods and workplaces. Registration will be at 8:30 a.m., and the walk will start at 9:a.m. Children are welcome and lunch will be served.

Walkers from the Blackstone Valley will join 2.3 million people in 2,000 towns nationwide to support self-help programs in 80 countries organized by Church World Service. In addition, the CROP Hunger Walk provides $4 million a year to 3,200 food pantries in the U.S., including food pantries in Douglas, Northbridge and Uxbridge.

The Northbridge Association of Churches has been the local sponsor for the Blackstone Valley CROP Hunger Walk for 38 years. During that time, local walkers have raised $246,040 for the fight against hunger. For information, contact Carolyn Mitchell, coordinator, at 508-234-3544 or Mike Tatarek, at 508-234-5768.
