NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – The Whitin Community Center is seeking nominations of individuals whose service to the Blackstone Valley and the center go “above and beyond.’’
Two awards are presented:
The George Marston Whitin Community Award recognizes an individual who personifies George M. Whitin's commitment to service to the community. Whitin (1856-1920) focused on community life, family values and citizenship, a vision that has guided the center’s services and programming since 1922. The award recognizes someone who embodies Whitin's vision through community service.
The Denis Latour Volunteer of the Year award recognizes someone whose exceptional volunteer effort supports and advances the mission of the center, which is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of individuals and families and building a strong community in the Blackstone Valley.
Nominations, and reasons for the nomination, should be sent to Heather Elster at heather.elster@ourgym.org by Feb. 8. Awards will be presented at Whitin Community Center’s annual meeting on March 4.
