GRAFTON, Mass. --It was a strong turnout for the Recreation Department's sixth annual family scarecrow building on Grafton Common, despite cloudy skies.

Recreation Director Betty Wright, who has been coordinating the event since the first year, said the Grafton Recreation Department supplied the twine, mounings, and straw, while the artists provide the clothing and creativity.

The scarecrows will remain on the Common till Nov. 5, unless Huricane Sandy says otherwise.

Scarecrow builders may pick up their creations by that end date, otherwise they will be tossed.
