WORCESTER, Mass. – A Grafton man flipped a trash truck Wednesday after dropping off waste at the Wheelabrator plant in Millbury, Worcester police said.
The driver, a 54-year-old Grafton resident who was not named by police, allegedly failed to lower the liftgate on a truck owned by A.J. Letourneau Trash Recycling of Millbury after dropping off waste at Wheelabrator Technologies Inc. in Millbury. The truck took down overhead lines on Route 20 before crashing into the Grafton Street overpass and flipping onto its side, police said.
The driver was cited for failure to lower the liftgate and operating a commercial vehicle with an expired medical card, police said. A.J. Letourneau Trash Recycling will also be cited for allowing an operator to work with an expired medical card.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation was called in to inspect the bridge. The accident remains under investigation.

Stoicism would say that everything is pre-determined, you don't control your own destiny. It's not accidental to have an accident in Massachusetts, it's just the will of the gods. It's not for us to judge the negligent trash truck driver, his negligence was his destiny.
StevieP65 -
Will you please stop trying to inflict your personal definition of a specific word onto the rest of us, please. This is not the first time you've posted this non sense about the work accident. You were wrong before and you are wrong now.
Look up the word "accident" - no where does it mention "act of God". "act of God" is a figment of your idle imagination.
Here are some of the definitions from Merriam Webster online:
"an unforeseen and unplanned event or circumstance"
"an unfortunate event resulting especially from carelessness or ignorance"
What happened on Route 20 was an accident.
OK I'll get off my soapbox on this topic.
We'll have to agree to disagree on what or what doesn't constitute an "accident."
To me, negligence is not an accident. YMMV.
Please, Jennifer...
"Accident?" How is this an "accident?"
If you leave the thing up, it's no accident that you smash into a bridge.
"Act of negligence?" Yes. "Crash?" yes. "Accident?" Nope. Calling it an accident makes it seem like "Whoops! Nobody's fault. It was just an accident."
Accidents are cause by acts of God. 99% of other motor vehicle incidents are due to some action or inaction on the part of the operator(s).
Go to any driver's ed class, and see what the instructors are telling the kids about "accidents." Even the state has gone so far as to remove the word accident from their "Motor Vehicle Crash Operator Report."

You really ought to try to eliminate that word from your vernacular, too.
