What's Happening This Weekend In Grafton

GRAFTON, Mass. – A trail race for dogs and Grafton High School's opening football game are the highlights of a busy weekend in Grafton.

Friday, Sept. 7

Cub Scout Pack 107 registration night, 7 to 9:00 p.m., at the Congregational Church, 30 Grafton Common.

"Crimes of the Heart" opening reception at the Singh Performance Center, 50 Douglas Road, Whitinsville at 6 p.m. Admission to the play is $15, $12 for groups of 10 or more.

Saturday, Sept. 8

North Grafton United Methodist Church free community barbeque, noon to 3 p.m. at the church, 10 Overlook St. in North Grafton. There will be a moonwalk and games for children, hot dogs, hamburgers and fun. Rain date is Sept. 9.

The New England Buddhist Vihara and Meditation Center  One day Buddhist retreat for adults at its 162 Old Upton Road headquarters, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. The sermon will be lead by Bhante Seelananda from the Bhavana Society of West Virginia.

Central Mass. Tigers Tryouts  11:30 - 3:00 p.m. at Airport Field. This is a new AAU team coached by a High School Varsity head coach. The goal of the program is to have players reach their full potential by playing with, and against, top level competition. Tryouts are free, and are open to all players aged 15 or under as of May 1, 2013. Contact club manager Joe Holm at coachholm123@gmail.com for more information or to register for the tryout.

Grafton High School  football opener against Nipmuc Regional High School at 1 p.m. at Nipmuc.

Sunday, Sept. 9

The Grafton Historical Society Museum is open to the public, 2-4 p.m. Admission is free.

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton & Upton "Coming Home" service at 10 a.m. Bring water from your travels to add to a common bowl.

The Grafton Land Trust Annual Good Dog Trail Race and Canine Social at the Grafton Lions Club on Brigham Hill Road at 3 p.m. Registration, a cost of $15, begins at 1 p.m. Keep up with your canine friend on a three trail run/walk through Gummere Woods.
