GRAFTON, Mass. – Lucinda "Rita" Castonguay Houde of Grafton died Feb. 4 following an illness. She was 57.

Houde was born Aug. 13, 1955, in Cambridge, Mass. She was raised in Auburn and later moved to Grafton, where she graduated from high school. She worked as a nurse for a short time before staying home for many years to raise a family.

Most recently, Houde worked as a cook at Grafton Job Corps in Grafton. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping and being near the ocean. Her family camped at Yogi Bear Campground in Sturbridge for many years. She loved the beaches of Cape Cod, music and visiting the casino.

Houde is survived by her mother, Patricia Lavigne Castonguay; four children, Jennifer (Leo) L’Esperance, Trisha Houde, John Houde Jr., and his significant other, Tiffany Benoit, and Stephanie Houde, and her fiancé, James Olds; three brothers, Philip (Norma) Castonguay Jr., John (Joanne) Castonguay and Thomas Castonguay; four sisters, Carole Castonguay, Cathy (Mark) Temple, Patricia (William) Howland and Liane (Timothy) Matatall; and two grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her father, Philip Castonguay; and a brother, Edward Castonguay.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Roney Funeral Home in North Grafton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Church in South Grafton. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Grafton. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James Church, c/o Bereavement Committee, 89 Main St., S. Grafton, MA 01560.
