Obituary: Ronald G. "Yogi" Chausse, 74

NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - Ronald G. "Yogi" Chausse, 74, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, after a long illness.


He leaves his wife of 55 years, Alice M. (Lapan) Chausse; seven children: Patricia A. Chausse of Millbury, Leo G. Chausse of Worcester, Steven G. Chausse of Webster, Rebecca A. Beaupre and her husband, Paul J. Beaupre, of Barton, VT, Paula M. Racicot and her husband, Wayne M. Racicot, of Uxbridge, and Maxime J. Chausse and his fiancee, Allison D. May, and Ronald J. Chausse and his wife, Lisa J. (Knapik) Chausse, all of Northbridge; two foster daughters: Judith (Hamilton) Smith of Southbridge and Jenifer (Mulvey) Barre of Whitinsville; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara M. Chausse of Millbury; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a great-grandson, Patrick D. Pierce.


Born in South Grafton on October 13, 1938, son of the late Maxime J. and Florence A. (Hudson) Chausse, he was raised there and attended Grafton schools. He moved to Northbridge in 1966.


Mr. Chausse was a pad dryer operator at The Felters Co., Millbury, where he worked for 39 years before retiring in 1993. Prior to that, he worked for Benjamin Chase of Wilkinsonville, constructing and installing burial vaults and servicing septic systems. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Parish, Northbridge. He enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, traveling and ocean cruising.


His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, in St. James Catholic Church, 89 Main St., South Grafton. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society , Centralized Memorial Processing Center, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 (www.cancer.org).

Turgeon Funeral Home, 80 School St., Northbridge, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
