Raymond Fontaine, 94, Longtime Grafton Resident

GRAFTON, Mass. – Raymond P. Fontaine of Grafton died Jan. 3 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was 94.

He was born Oct. 16, 1918, in Worcester to John and Olivine Deloge Fontaine. Raised in Worcester, he moved to Grafton in 1956. He and his wife lived in Grafton for many years.

Fontaine worked at Wyman-Gordon Company in Grafton for most of his career and then at Western Electric for several years before retiring.

He was a longtime parishioner at St. Mary’s Church. He loved to bowl and was a member of several leagues over the years. Fontaine also enjoyed vacationing with his wife and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

He is survived by a daughter, Paula F. (Frank) Meoli; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.

His wife, Esther Rice Fontaine, died in 2004. He was also predeceased by an infant son, John H. Fontaine and four sisters.

Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Monday, at Roney Funeral Home in North Grafton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, at St. Mary’s Church in North Grafton. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
