I'm Bruce Spinney and I'm running for selectman in this year’s election. For the past four years, I have dedicated myself to serving and improving the town of Grafton.
As Planning Board chairman, I led efforts to make it more efficient and feasible for homeowners and business owners to make beneficial improvements. I have also developed a knowledge and understanding of a wide range of issues facing the town as a member of the Economic Development Committee, Capital Infrastructure Planning Committee, Scholarship Committee, Community Preservation Committee and Streetscape Committee.
I helped to lead these committees into accomplishing a great deal for the town, including the new park in South Grafton that is opening this summer. I have also spent the past years meeting with representatives from the department of public works and the fire department, holding forums for town business owners, and meeting with representatives such as George Peterson and most recently, our new superintendent Dr. Cummings, to learn of their challenges and how I can help.
With your help, I will make a difference in Grafton. I will treat your tax dollars with the respect they deserve by providing oversight and accountability to our government. I'll help guide the town by implementing my blueprint for aligning our fiscal and capital infrastructure needs into one coherent plan.
I will be at the forefront of encouraging the growth of our business community to ease the tax burden of our seniors and our citizens who have fallen on hard times. I'll strengthen the role of our economic development team to build a collaborative effort between municipal and private enterprise to isolate and tear down the roadblocks that hamper our commercial growth.
I want to provide our town administrator with the guidance his office needs to run an effective and transparent municipal government. I will make the Board of Selectmen the communications hub of our town so all the voices in town are heard. I want all the boards and committees to have a focal point for the free flowing exchange of ideas. As the executive board of town, the selectmen will be the nexus of information and the distribution point of a clear and decisive vision.
My only agenda in this election is to improve the way our government does business--to provide Grafton with an intelligent, honest and hard working leader who will help restore the confidence in our local government. Grafton is a great town, filled with great people. Let me be your voice on the board--your advocate for spending your hard earned dollars with wisdom and prudence.
I ask for your vote on May 15. Together, let's start planning a better path for our town.
Sincerely,
Bruce W. Spinney III
