Hunting Season is here!
As we enter autumn many of us start to enjoy more time on the trails and in wooded areas around town. Autumn is also the start of hunting season. Hunting is allowed in Massachusetts every day except Sunday. While all hunters are required to complete specialized training and be licensed, it is always a good idea to take extra precautions to ensure that we can all enjoy our outdoor pursuits safely. People and their pets (dogs, horses, etc.) are encouraged to wear a blaze orange hat and/or vest when venturing out into the woods.
You are most likely to encounter a hunter during the shotgun season for deer, which runs from November 26 through December 8, or during the primitive firearms season for deer, which runs from December 10-31. However, hunting seasons for small game, upland birds, waterfowl, furbearers and the archery season for deer all begin in mid-October and run through the winter months.
