Last Sunday Grafton Pop Warner hosted the Central Mass Pop Warner – South Cheer Comp at Grafton High School. In addition to hosting the Cheer Comp GPW hosted a full schedule of football games. The two concurrent events put a tremendous strain on our organization and we were worried about the large number of volunteers we would need to host each event. GPW reached out to some of our former players and the high school football staff and cheer coach to look into having students volunteer to help us out.
The student support was incredible and we were overwhelmed with the number of students who came out to volunteer. The students were all amazing, many of the girls helped out with the comp while the football team basically ran our football games. It was really special to watch the High school kids interact with our kids and I know all of our kids really enjoyed having the High School kids around. Many of the kids have come thru our program so we know many of them, but there were a lot of kids who have not come thru our program who came out to volunteer and quite simply we could not have pulled it off without them.
We would like to thank Principal Jim Pignataro, Athletic Director Karrah Ellis, Coaches Mike Ross, Chris McMahon, and Doni Akers for the use of the High School and gathering up a large number of football players and cheer leaders to volunteer. A special thanks to Senior Mary Stygles for coordinating Student Council members and National Honor Students who also volunteered during the day. We would also like to thank all of our GPW parents who volunteered. You all made the day a huge success!
Thanks Again Grafton Pop Warner Board of Directors
