GRAFTON, Mass. - Do you have questions about how a New England town meeting is conducted? Do you want to participate in Grafton's Oct. 15 Town Meeting but don't know where to go and what to do?
As Grafton Town Meeting moves to a brand new location -- the new Grafton high school auditorium -- Grafton Community Television's staff has made something old brand new again and remastered a series of three one hour programs that former Grafton Selectman Sue Mills prepared with GCTV staff in March and April of 2005. The series, entitled "It's Your Town Meeting,"
thoroughly covers the ABC's -- the down to earth real basics of Grafton's unique form of town meeting government. The programs include interviews with several former town officials and with Town Moderator Ray Mead and Finance Committee member Sue Robbins, who remain in their respective government positions now in 2012.
"Watching these tapes here at the studio, it was obvious how much care and effort Selectman Mills put into this series of programs, and how important it was to her that there was a way to communicate all of the Town Meeting basics to Grafton residents," Grafton Community Television Access Assistant Steve Libuda said. If you've never been to a Grafton Town Meeting, or if you go to Town Meeting every year, any questions you might have about how Town Meeting works will be answered."
A GCTV video replay of the three part "It's Your Town Meeting" series will be broadcast during the first two weeks of October on Grafton Community Television Charter Channel 11 / Verizon Channel 34. Broadcast dates are Tuesday, Oct. 2, Wednesday, Oct. 3 and Thursday, Oct. 4, all one-hour segments starting at 9 p.m. The program repeats on Tuesday, Oct. 9, Wednesday, Oct. 10, and Thursday, Oct. 11 at 9 p.m.
The program will also be available "On Demand" at the Grafton Community Television website www.GraftonTV.org
