Faith based groups are volunteers that provide food, clothing, shelter, communications, medical, transport, clean-up and even SAR during disasters and nothing more the same as the rest of the "volunteers" that work with emergency management. God Bless. View Comment
I've spent over twenty years working in and for Emergency Management at city and county level some of that time as Emergency Coordinator and other times as a volunteer. I've also worked on the committee of COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster) and VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster). Over half of the groups involved are faith Based groups. It has absolutely nothing to do with Seperation of Church and State. The Constitution does not say that Churches cannot work with Government. It says that the Government will not establish it's own religion. View Comment
Every town in the country uses faith based organizations in their emergency Preparedness plans. It doesn't have anything to do with religion. It has to do with helping our fellow man regardless of their religion. The problem with this country is the left wing nut jobs that are trying to destroy what we stand for at all costs and will do anything and say anything they can even when it hurts those closest to them. They really need to get the amateur radio community involved. They are the unsung heroes of every Emergency Management Agency in the country. The Eastern MA Section Emergency Coordinator for the Amateur Radio Emergency Service is also the Skywarn Coordinator for the NWS, Taunton. View Comment
What happened to the snowblower the town had for this particular job of snow removal of the downtown areas? Was it never replaced? It would save a ton of money in the long run to have one. Two sidewalk plows, the snowblower and a line of trucks cleaned the main Street in short order. Of course those of us that remember are probably few and far between. View Comment
If people would get cars off the street before the storm like they are suppose to the streets could be properly cleared. They have had all day to clear the streets.

This should not have happened but, it seems like overkill to me. The boy is 11 years old a meer child. They want to destroy his life for kicking a teacher? Something caused him to do it but, they'll never hear his side of the story. View Comment
I hope this will be a shot in the arm for the downtown area. I remember shopping there with my parents and as an adult when there were no vacant storefronts. View Comment
Times have changed. Time was that we went to school when there were several inches on the ground and it was still snowing. I remember sitting in school staring out the window wondering if they would let us go early, then watching the busses pull up at noontime to take us home. (I walked a mile after getting off the bus) Our driver one year came down Mendon Road and didn't make the turn on to Quaker and went over the stone wall. I walked two miles that day. The point is, we didn't wimp out every time we saw a snow flake. It was school no matter what. View Comment
Ben was one of the nice guys. I'm sure he will be missed by many people in town, not only family. Ben took the very last photo of my Dad before he passed in 1974. It was an ID photo but still, it was the last and I'm forever grateful. Rest in Peace Ben. View Comment
It's a shame they have to do it in such a way and just before Christmas. Certainly not thinking of the employees. Hope they all find something real soon. View Comment
