Took my son 5 minutes to even FIND our fire hydrant! Please dig them out folks...those are precious minutes that could be the difference between life and death. View Comment
Town did a good job. With a storm of this size, it is expected that all roads would not be perfect a day or two after. I would expect, however, the cleanup to continue, please! View Comment
I was 6; I remember jumping off the 2nd floor porch and landing in snow only inches lower. I remember being out of school for a week and building elaborate snow mazes and tunnels. My mother went out in the middle of it to do someone's tax returns! View Comment
Kudos to Sterling Animal Shelter and the Sheriff's office for this! Not only does Nikita get a new lease on life, but his story will also help publicize that shelter animals are not "damaged". View Comment
"obviously it is a tried and true method". YES, so why doesn't it work at this store? This store is grossly mismanaged and it has nothing to do with being right off of 290. I'm not complaining, just commenting. With all the other fast food options within a couple of miles, it is easy to simply avoid this locale. View Comment
This location is always horrible. Crazy lines inside and out. The double drive through has not helped at all. I'm not a big fast food person, but this particular store is definitely one to avoid. View Comment
It's been hit or miss for me...the service is always great but the food quality has been up and down. I love to support local businesses and will try them again. View Comment
Gosh I love how the Superintendant asked for resident volunteers to serve on a committee to address strategic planning for the school buildings. I love even more that she has not replied to my message volunteering to do so. View Comment
It is crazy how we are responding to the hype of the media and the stores. If given the opportunity, many stores would operate on Thanksgiving (and other holidays) as they do any other mundane day of the year. It is personal choice whether someone decides to shop, true. However, it is not likely a choice for those that have to WORK on these days. I wish we were still living in the age that Mrbojangles describes where family came before a "wicked good" deal on new electronics. View Comment
"In the past three fiscal years, we have seen an increase in both commercial and industrial growth."
If that is the case, the .05% drop should be covered by the NEW businesses, not residential taxpayers. Why doesn't that happen? Because we are entrenched in a mindset of spend, spend, spend. As soon as any surplus funds come in, the town spends them. The entire culture of how we budget and spend needs to change before we see any relief. View Comment
Thanks so much for this article. I will admit that I was very confused after hearing a commercial on the radio saying "skip question 1" and then seeing the AAA billboard on 290 encouraging the yes vote. I figured to vote on the question anyway as I would prefer my vote to be counted. I appreciate your taking the time to explain this. Funny, I have not seen or heard this info on any of the paid media outlets! View Comment
Once again it appears that poor planning will result in residents having to foot the bill for another school reno or addition. I'm not surprised that a roof replacement is needed after 45 years. I AM shocked that repair/maintenance/replacement was not part of a long term strategic plan for the school. Why is it that residents are only asked for money when there is a perceived impending disaster (i.e. loss of accreditation). Why isn't census data and school enrollment data used to predict the number of students in a district or region years in advance of the actual need? This lack of planning has to stop somewhere and I'm drawing the line now. I will definitely be voting "NO" on this project and only wish I had more control over the Auburn Middle School proposal. I am continually amazed at the marked lack of strategic planning by this town. After all the hullabaloo about where to build the high school (after 20+ years of debate!), the town built a facility that was too small and lacked the ability for expansion and failed to take into account the future need of building a new middle school. Proper long range planning should have led the town to locate land sufficient for BOTH a middle school and high school campus. Instead, tax payers find themselves once again responsible for overpaying. View Comment
