Snow Map: These States Most Likely To See A White Christmas, Old Farmer's Almanac Says A white Christmas could be on the holiday wish list for parts of the Northeast, but the Old Farmer’s Almanac draws a sharp line between snowy scenery and bare ground. The publication’s Christmas outlook favors snow cover in its Northeast and Intermountain regions, as well as Alaska, on Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25. Its Northeast region includes much of inland New York and northern New England, extending into parts of Massachusetts. The Atlantic Corridor gets a different prediction: no white Christmas. That distinction matters for readers comparing nearby communities. The map’s forecast b…

NOAA’s National Weather Service released its winter outlook Thursday, Oct. 15, favoring above-average temperatures across the Northeast and wetter-than-average conditions along the East Coast from December through February 2027. That combination leaves an important question unresolved: How much of that precipitation will fall as snow? The NOAA outlook does not predict seasonal snowfall totals. Its maps show the odds of warmer, colder, wetter…
