Sam Ash To Close All Locations, Including White Plains Store, After 100 Years In Business
The largest family-owned chain of musical instrument stores in the nation has announced it will be closing all its locations.
Sam Ash Music was founded in 1924, has locations in more than a dozen states, and is headquartered on Long Island, in Hicksville.
It currently has 27 stores, including five in New York (White Plains, Carle Place, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Forest Hills), two in New Jersey (in Springfield and Cherry Hill), two in Pennsylvania (in Philadelphia and King of Prussia), one in Connecticut (in New Haven), and one in Virginia (in Richmond).

$10K Stolen From Local Carle Place Restaurant: Police
Police are on the search for a man who they say broke into a Long Island restaurant, stole thousands of dollars in cash, and ran.
It happened on Tuesday, Nov. 21 in Carle Place.
According to Nassau County Police, an unknown man broke into Plori Restaurant, located at 307 Old Country Road, by breaking down the back door at approximately 4:15 a.m.
Once the thief was inside, he stole nearly $10,000 in cash from multiple registers before fleeing on foot.
Police said the burglar ran west towards Lindbergh Boulevard.

New Carle Place Restaurant 'Hits Almost All The Elements,' Diner Says
A new Japanese restaurant on Long Island appears to be a hit with diners in the months since opening.
Ikedo Ramen, located in Carle Place at 19 Old Country Road, held its grand opening in late February 2023.
It marked the second Long Island location for the eatery, which touts its authentic Japanese dishes, according to its website.
Donning the menu are several appetizers, each accompanied by a homemade sauce. Among them is the Takoyaki, consisting of fried octopus balls topped with Japanese mayo, aonori, and bonito flakes.

A Long Island man was arrested after he allegedly caused a scene at a restaurant by breaking a martini glass, slapping an employee, and attacking officers, attempting to grab one's gun.

Two men are behind bars after allegedly going on a shoplifting spree that netted them thousands of dollars in merchandise from numerous Long Island stores.
Oreall Thomas, age 47, and Shaun Williams, age 52, both of Freeport, were arrested Monday, Dec. 12, on charges of grand larceny, Nassau County Police said.
Officers had been called to the TJ MAXX store in Carle Place, located on Glen Cove Road, with reports of a theft.
Both men were gone by the time officers arrived, but police spotted them a short time later near Glen Cove and Old Country roads and arrested them, police said.

Chateau Briand In Carle Place Set To Close After Half-Century In Business, State Filing Reports
A popular Long Island catering hall and wedding venue is set to close after 50 years in business, according to a filing with New York State.
Chateau Briand, located in Carle Place, at 440 Old Country Road, is scheduled close on Saturday, Dec. 31, according to a Department of Labor WARN Notice that was filed on Friday, Sept. 30.
According to the filing, 112 employees will be laid off as a result of the closure.

A man has been arrested for allegedly committing at least seven burglaries on Long Island.
Scott Gilmor, age 45, of Hicksville, was arrested by Nassau County Police in Hempstead on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Teen Nabbed For Nine Burglaries In Mineola and Carle Place In One Night
A teenager has been nabbed for a series of nine burglaries that took place earlier this year on Long Island, police said.
Nassau County Police arrested Richard Morgridge, age 18, of the Bronx, on Wednesday, March 23.
The burglaries took place in Mineola and Carle Place between 12:43 and 4:35 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, police said.
An investigation led detectives to Morgridge, they added.

A months-long investigation into a bank robbery on Long Island led to the arrest of a suspect who is now facing charges, police announced.
On Friday, Feb. 25, Nassau County police investigators that Freeport resident Shamont Hoosuendove, age 37, has been charged with one count of second-degree robbery after targeting Chase Bank in Carle Place last fall.
Police said that shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, Hoosuendove allegedly walked into Chase Bank on Old Country Road, slipping a teller a note demanding money.
