DWI Driver Drove Recklessly: Mt Olive PD A 40-year-old Budd Lake man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on the afternoon of Thursday, April 10, authorities said. At 12:21 p.m., officers observed a GMC pickup truck traveling west on Route 46 fail to maintain its lane, Mount Olive police said. The driver, Drew Monarque, was pulled over and officers detected an odor of alcohol on his beverage, police said. Following field sobriety testing, Monarque was placed under arrest, police said. He was charged with DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and failure to possess an insurance card, police said.

Terrance Bailey was found guilty for murdering Daniel Haas, Jr. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II said. Bailey and an accomplice pursued Haas while brandishing a firearm near 207 Cathedral Ct. in Newark, Stephens said. Bailey and the accomplice, who has not been identified, killed Haas with a machete, Stephens said. Bailey faces 30 years to life in New Jersey State Prison, Stephens said.
