48-Year-Old Accused Of Stabbing Man With Kitchen Scissors In Shelton One person is facing assault charges after a 34-year-old man was stabbed with a pair of kitchen scissors in Fairfield County. Alex Chamoro, age 48, of Shelton, was arrested on Monday, Oct. 3, following the incident that happened at about 2 p.m. that day in an apartment on Howe Avenue in Shelton, police said. The Shelton Police Department said Chamoro was involved in a dispute with a woman and her 34-year-old son, and Chamoro stabbed the man during the dispute. Moose Rescued After Getting Stuck On Fence In Connecticut Authorities in Connecticut rescued a moose after the animal became trapped on a fence. Wardens responded to a report of a moose stuck on a fence in the Litchfield County town of Barkhamsted at about midnight on Saturday, Oct. 1, according to Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police. Officials said the moose was unable to get its back legs over the fence, and the animal's belly stopped it from being able to back up. Watch: Suspects Wanted For Stealing Catalytic Convertor From SUV In Ronkonkoma Police are searching for the suspects who stole a catalytic converter from an SUV on Long Island. The catalytic converter was stolen from a 2003 Honda CRV that was parked in a driveway on Walnut Avenue in Ronkonkoma at about 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, according to a report from Suffolk County Crime Stoppers on Monday, Oct. 3. Video police shared of the incident shows two individuals at the scene. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Brand-New Pizzeria Serves Up Sourdough Pies In Hudson Valley A brand-new pizzeria, owned by two area residents, has begun serving pies made with sourdough in the Hudson Valley. The Dutch Crown, located at 85 Main St. in the Dutchess County city of Poughkeepsie, is currently in its soft opening phase. Lisa Nicotra, of Staten Island, claimed the second prize for matching the first five numbers in the Tuesday, July 26, Mega Millions drawing, New York Lottery reported on Monday, Sept. 26. The winning numbers were 07 29 60 63 66 Mega Ball 15, NY Lottery said. She received her prize as a single, lump-sum payment of $612,240 after required withholdings, the lottery said. Man Charged With Murder In Fatal Stabbing Of 34-Year-Old In Islip Terrace A man was charged with murder after police said he fatally stabbed a 34-year-old man during an altercation outside of their Long Island home. Eduardo Vega, age 56, was arrested on Sunday, Oct. 2, and charged with second-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of Roshane McLaren in Islip Terrace, the Suffolk County Police Department reported. Escaped Inmate From Bridgeport Apprehended In Georgia A 31-year-old man who escaped while serving a sentence in Fairfield County for a robbery charge was apprehended in Georgia. The Henry County Sheriff's Office in Georgia announced on Saturday, Oct. 1, that Forenza Rakeem Murphy was arrested. Authorities reported that Murphy left a Connecticut Department of Corrections Halfway House in Bridgeport on Monday, Aug. 8, and had been on the run ever since. "It was a great collaborative effort with The Connecticut DOC that led to the apprehension of Murphy," Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett said in the announcement.

Man Accused Of Cashing $9.7K In Fraudulent Checks In Westport A man has been charged after investigators found that he cashed more than $9,700 in fraudulent checks in Fairfield County.
