Man Killed in Newark Fire: Prosecutor A man was killed in a fire in Newark on Thursday morning, April 3, authorities said. The adult man, whose name was not provided, was taken to University Hospital, following the blaze on the 200 block of South 11th Street, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. He was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m., authorities said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, authorities said.

Driver Dies After Crashing Into Home, Setting It Ablaze: Manalapan PD A 57-year-old Englishtown man was killed after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a home, starting a fire on the morning of Tuesday, April 1 in Manalapan, authorities said. At 5:02 a.m., the car struck a home on Craig Road near Symmes Drive, and the residence proceeded to catch on fire, Manalapan police said. The man was removed by passing motorists, and was transported to Centra State Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. East Orange Woman Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Orange: Prosecutor A 76-year-old East Orange woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Orange on Wednesday, April 2, authorities said. Lois Scott was crossing northbound over Main Street, when a Jeep Wrangler traveling northbound on South Jefferson Street turning left onto Main Street stuck her in the crosswalk, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Scott was transported to University Hospital and was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m., authorities said. The driver remained on scene, authorities said.

Suspect Apprehended After Striking Girl With Vehicle, Fleeing Scene: Newark PD A 51-year-old Newark man was apprehended after he struck a girl with his vehicle and fled the scene on Tuesday, April 1, authorities said. At 7:36 a.m., officers responded to Irvine Turner Boulevard and Spruce Street after a 9-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is in stable but critical condition, Miranda said. Bridgeton Man Who Robbed Pizza Delivery Drivers Learns Fate: Prosecutor A 34-year-old Bridgeton man was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Monday, March 31,after robbing two pizza delivery drivers at gunpoint. In 2019, Tyreen Walker placed orders with Domino's Pizza and Pizza Hut, requesting a pizza delivery, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said. When the order arrived at the location, he robbed the drivers, taking the pizza and whatever money they had, Webb Mc-Rae said. Walker was sentenced to two seven-year prison terms for robbery, with the sentences being served consecutively, Webb-McRae said.

Mother, Daughter Lied After Fatal Jersey City Crash: Prosecutor A mother and a daughter were arrested and charged on Tuesday, April 1, after they lied about a fatal crash in Jersey City last year that killed a 43-year-old motorcyclist.
