Hudson Valley Man Accused Of Entering Locked Animal Shelter To Retrieve Dog, Police Say A 20-year-old man was charged with trespassing after police said he entered a closed Hudson Valley animal shelter to retrieve his dog. In Rockland County, an employee at Hi-Tor Animal Care Center Inc. in Pomona discovered on Saturday, Sept. 17, that one of the dogs that was lodged at the shelter was missing, according to the Rockland County Sheriff's Office The dog was lodged at the shelter on Friday, Sept. 16, after the animal was found wandering unattended in Ramapo, authorities said. Police Issue Alert For Thefts From Parking Lots In Nassau County Police issued an alert to Long Islanders about thefts from parking lots in the region. The Nassau County Police Department shared a series of tips to prevent these thefts on Friday, Sept. 16. Police said individuals should not leave purses or wallets unattended in their vehicle while they load groceries into the trunk, as thefts often occur when victims are distracted. People should also lock their vehicles, even if they're just returning their cart. NCPD said suspicious activity can be reported to 911.

Mosquitoes Test Positive For West Nile Virus In 10 Suffolk County Communities Mosquito samples collected from 10 Long Island communities tested positive for West Nile virus, health officials announced. Seen Him? Alert Issued For Man Reported Missing In Westchester Police are searching for a 61-year-old man who was reported missing by the Northern Westchester senior living facility where he lives. Tyrone Harper was reported missing on Tuesday, Sept. 20, New York State Police said. Police said Harper lives at The Sentinel, located at 3441 Lexington Ave. in Mohegan Lake. Seen Him? Man Accused Of Stealing Speaker From Setauket Walmart Police asked the public for help locating a man who is accused of stealing a speaker from a Walmart on Long Island. A man stole a Bose SoundLink speaker from the store, which is located at 3990 Nesconset Highway in Setauket, on Monday, Aug. 29, the Suffolk County Police Department reported on Monday, Sept. 19. Closures On Stretch Of Meadowbrook State Parkway Scheduled State officials announced upcoming lane reductions and closures on a stretch of the Meadowbrook State Parkway. The parkway will be closed in both directions between the Loop Parkway (Exit M10) and Bay Parkway in Hempstead beginning the night of Monday, Sept. 19, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
