Ice Training Exercise Turns Into Real Life Rescue: Morris County Sheriff's Office An ice training exercise became a real life rescue mission in Morris County on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The Morris County Sheriff's Office said they were conducting a joint ice rescue training with other law enforcement departments at Lee’s County Park Marina at Lake Hopatcong in Mount Arlington when they were notified about a report of a male who fell through the ice. Cops Intercept 'FBI Agent' En Route To Collect $40K In Evesham, Authorities Say A 28-year old Cherry Hill resident was arrested and charged on Thursday, Feb. 13 with trying to scam a person in Evesham out of $40,000 by posing as an FBI agent, authorities said. Officers began investigating after a person told law enforcement they received a phone call from an individual claiming to be a member of the F.B.I, Evesham police said. Skillman Man Killed After Car Strikes Truck: Montgomery Twp PD A 64-year-old Skillman man was killed after he struck the back of a truck on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 19, authorities said. At 10 a.m., police responded to Route 206 near the Nassau Tennis Club after a man driving a 2017 Subaru struck a 2019 International delivery truck, Montgomery Township police said. Raid Nets Marijuana, $279K In Cash Seized From Brick Township Man: Ocean County Prosecutor A 37-year-old Brick Township man was arrested and charged after drugs were seized from his residence on Tuesday, Feb. 11, authorities said. Driver, 35, Found Lying Next To Crashed Mercedes Benz In Branchburg Dies: Police A 35-year-old Whippany man was killed in a car crash on Route 202 in Branchburg on Tuesday, Feb. 18, authorities said. At 10:08 p.m., officers responded to a single-car collision at Route 202 and Whiton Road and found a 2024 blue Mercedes Coupe overturned, Branchburg police said. North Bergen Cop Resigns After Sexual Assault Charge: Police Roberto Gonzalez, a police officer in North Bergen resigned last November after being charged with sexual assault. Gonzalez was previously suspended after he was charged with sexual assault in Essex County in March 2023, according to the police department's annual discipline report.
