Coffe In The Park: Newburgh Council Approves Seasonal Cafe In Downing Park NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Newburgh City Council approved a seasonal cafe in the shelter house structure in Downing Park on Monday, according to the Times Herald-Record.  The Olmstead Vaux Shelter House Café will offer beverages and sandwiches between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. with 10 percent of the profits going back to the park, the Herald-Record reported.  Click here to read the Times Herald-Record article.

Tedesco Backs Care Plus Bergen To Operate Bergen Regional Medical Center BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. – County Executive Jim Tedesco is recommending Bergen Care Plus be approved by the Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Bergen County Improvement Authority (BCIA) as the next tenant-operator of Bergen Regional Medical Center.  Tedesco's endorsement aligns with the recommendation of the county evaluation committee. the Board of Chosen Freeholders are expected to vote on the measure on Wednesday while the BCIA will vote on Thursday.

Nine Servicemen On Crashed Military Plane Were Part Of Newburgh-Based Crew NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Nine of the 16 servicemen killed in the crash of a C130 refueling plane in Mississippi on Monday belonged to a Marine reserve squadron that was based out of the Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, according to multiple media reports.  Stewart Terrace, a community that is tied closely to the base, lowered flags that hung on front porches, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.  Marine Sgt. RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Ridgefield Police are looking for the owners of a miniature pinscher that was dropped of at Canine Control on Monday, July 3.  The dog was found on Route 7 near the Danbury line. Work at Railroad Crossing To Close Long Ridge Road In Redding REDDING, Conn. – Work to upgrade the railroad crossing on Long Ridge Road in Redding will close the road from Friday, July 7 through Wednesday, July 12.  Long Ridge Road will be closed at 10 a.m. on Friday and is expected to re-open by 4 p.m. on Wednesday.  Motorists will have to follow detour signs to work around the construction. There will also be no Metro-North service between Danbury and Norwalk. Alternate bus service will be provided with train service restored by Monday.  There will be an increase in noise levels in the vicinity of the railroad crossing due to the construction.
